The supplement marketer story starts the way that most good stories do: with passion. Our founder, Tyler DeWitt, has long been passionate about health and wellness culture. He loves bodybuilding and health nut, constantly fueling his body with top-quality supplements to help him reach his physical peak. Tyler also brought this drive to achieve into his work life, where he owned and operated a digital marketing agency (DeWitt Media, Inc.) that helped countless clients across numerous industries achieve millions in sales.
In 2012, Tyler’s two passions collided when he decided to market supplements on the side as a hobby. Admittedly, he didn’t expect much to come from his efforts — just a chance to use his marketing expertise to learn more about an industry he loved.
Tyler reached out to several affiliate networks and offered his services as a marketing professional, specifically in the health and wellness sector. These networks all wanted to advertise similar products: detox products, diet supplements, bodybuilding aids. These are the products that customers buy because they want to make a change in their lives and in their health — and they want that change to be visible. Looking at the supplements, Tyler had a brilliant idea: more than most other products, these supplements rely on customers’ stories.
Tyler knew that the best way to market these supplements was to market their results — in other words, to sell the story of using the supplement. He had his copywriter setup several review-based websites, which used a storytelling-like approach for each of the supplements on offer. Instead of vague promises about shedding pounds or gaining muscle, Tyler let the product speak for itself through the users who’d already tried it.
The storytelling approach was extremely effective. Before Tyler even had a chance to push his new websites and market more aggressively, he was seeing sales climb for every product. The sales were coming from organic search! It appeared that people everywhere were looking for ways to improve their health through detoxes and supplements — and Tyler’s marketing strategies were just what they wanted.
It was time to ramp up the scale of the marketing. Tyler started playing around with display ads, media buying, search engine optimization — basically every marketing channel available online. The sales were booming and the companies were happy, but Tyler was beginning to see cracks in the system of affiliate networking. Many of these companies were TOO aggressive, too shady, dancing up to the compliance line and flirting with the idea of crossing it. It was something that Tyler (a consummate professional) wasn’t willing to play around with — especially not with the meager profits he was getting from these companies! It was clear that supplement marketing was going to be much more than a hobby, but now Tyler needed to find a way to do it on his own.
Instead of continuing on with the affiliate networks, Tyler decided to take a new approach: manufacturing his own supplements and marketing them himself. This would allow him to be involved in every aspect of the sales process, giving him total control of the quality, the marketing ethics, and the profit margins. Manufacturer Vitalabs.com was the first company to help Tyler launch his products, and soon he had several manufacturers producing supplements for his “hobby.”
Getting a brand-new line of supplements in front of users’ eyes might seem like a difficult task — but Tyler had his unique expertise and his dedicated marketing colleagues at his side. Their storytelling-based approach did gangbusters, yielding as much as $275,000 a month during peak times. Their marketing appealed directly to users through great copywriting and SEO-optimization, helping them generate most sales through organic search. The products were high quality, the marketing was creative and engaging, and the sales spoke for themselves.
In 2021, Tyler decided to take this endeavor to the next level once again. He started SupplementMarketers.com, a marketing agency dedicated to the development and marketing of health supplements. Supplement Marketers uses the lessons Tyler learned through almost a decade of marketing health products to create fool-proof marketing campaigns that help companies improve sales and help customers get better products. In all these years, Tyler has not lost his passion for the health and fitness industries, and it is this passion that drives him to make these industries better for everyone involved.
